LAST Test

I passed the LAST. My score is 232. I am so happy. Thank you for CertEd’s help. Your program is the best because your CertEd guides us step by step. I didn't pass LAST after going to CITE and KAPLAN until I came to you. I would like to sign for another Prep. for ATS-W. I will recommend my friend to your CertEd. In July I took the LAST exam for my fourth time. I finally passed it with your help. I received a 300 on my written essay although I received a 150 on my communication skills. I can't believe it! I PASSED. Thank you so much for this wonderful course, because without it I couldn't have done it. It took four tries but just one time with this course. I am now going to be certified and job hunting for a teaching job. When I spoke to you last you told me to focus on the essay and memorize the sentence scaffold, I did just that and got a 260 on the essay. ATS Test

I just accessed my unofficial score on the ATS-W: 255! I'm glad I'm successfully finished with it and can move on! That means I'll be in line for a full-time job in February, 04!

CertEd was a significant part of my success. I used several books--- (Kaplan's the best)---but frankly, I found them so boring to read that I began looking for other ways to prepare. That's when I found CertEd. Two things were particularly helpful:

1) the mnemonics and 2) the wonderful outline for the essay.
There were essential concepts and vocabulary it was necessary to know for the multiple choice questions. The mnemonics were a great help there. Writing down the meaning of the mnemonics in the note section of the test booklet is also an excellent CertEd idea. Those notes become your reference library!

Outlining the essay was a breeze using the CertEd approach. I can't recommend it highly enough. And your site is the only place where that outline is taught! None of the expensive books do it! For that alone CertEd was bargain-basement-inexpensive! H.K.

Thank you for asking. I passed! Didn't have the time to prepare the way I would have liked to, but if I remember correctly, I was approximately 20 points over what I needed to get in order to pass the test.

Truly believe that if I had more time to review for this test, using CertEd, I would have done better. I really tried to cram all my studying in at the last minute, due to a time crunch...and that is never the way to study most efficiently. Thanks again, D.M.
A while back you asked me how I did on the exam. I did not tell you at the time, but now I will. I failed on two previous occasions (204 and 219). Well, after taking your course I felt more self-assured and more self confident. I went in with proper training (your course was the training). When your wife would speak to me I felt she was in my livingroom have tea, and when you were talking I felt as though you were my older brother (I do not have an older brother) guiding me through the pot holes of education. As though you were saying, "look Mike I went through this and as your older brother I want to be your guide through this".

Well Jack let me tell you. On the two previous tries It took me 3 hours to do the questions which left me one hour to do the Essay. (I was ok on the questions but always failed the essay) Well after taking your practice questions I was amazed at the answers I got wrong and I learned from this. This enabled me to learn where my weak and strong points were. As for the essay I practiced and practiced over and over again, learning about strategies and all the little hints your suggested on what the examiners would be looking for in a properly worded essay.

On the day of the exam I finished my questions under two hours. I was feeling really confident. When I turned the page for the essay I did not turn it with one eye shut. (LOL) I turned that page over with confidence, as if I was daring the State Examiners to hit me with their best shot. I was now armed with your course in the back of my mind. I had your secret weapon, (SCAFFOLDING). I was ready. When I saw the essay question I did not freeze up, I knew what to do. With your help, I had planned my work now I was going to work my plan. Years ago In the Air Force Reserves I saw a film on how soldiers in Ft. Sill Ok. artillery would practice weeks with the 105 howitzer before they went in the deserts during Desert Storm. They had practiced for months together before getting the operations down just right. When that test was handed to me I felt your course gave me the proper training that those boys in Ft Sill received. So instead of handing me a 105 howitzer, I was handed an exam. I cannot express my gratitude for your aiding me in this short chapter of my life. I wish to thank you and your lovely wife. Oh by the way Jack did I tell you I passed. Yes I did. 232. LAST & ATS-W Combo Test

I am thrilled. I passed both of the tests LAST and the ATS-W. Your program was worth every penny and I will surely recommend it highly to anyone I know that still need to take it. I got through the LAST as I may have mentioned it was my third try at it. This was prior to taking your program. On the third try with the help of your program I passed and also passed the ATS-W on the first try with the help of your program. “I was a programmer, then decided to change my career. When I signed up for LAST I ordered a bunch of books from Amazon.com, but sent them back - I did not feel they helped. I ordered CertEd course several days before the exam... When I got the score I shut my eyes and was scared to open them to see I failed but it was a miracle - I passed with the score 288 !!! after the first attempt. Of course, I signed up for ATS-W, and also passed it with the score 268. The courses are wonderful! I am more than excited! I didn't know about accessing scores online until I received your e-mail. I passed with a 274 in Elem. Assess. Of Teaching Skills-Written, and a 283 in Liberal Arts and Sciences Test. I can't tell you how much this means to me! I have been out of graduate school for 9 years and I knew that I would need some help preparing for the test. I found my dream job and keeping the job was contingent upon me passing the test. I know some one who took the tests 3 times before she passed and I was just horrified! I feel that I am an intelligent adult, but I have never tested well. I always interpret questions a little differently than I should and often see the opportunity for more than one answer. This is good for being broad minded and flexible, however, it doesn't provide for the best test taking ability. There is no way that I could have passed the test if I hadn't taken the course with CertEd. I practiced the essays until I was confident that I understood the scaffold and could apply it to any subject. I already have my Master's Degree, so passing the NYSTCE was my final step to keep my job and move forward with my teaching career. It is so important for me to keep this job, because, first of all, it's the best job I've ever had, and second of all, I have an 18 year old son who will be starting college next year, and my husband and I have a 1 year old now also! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the course! It was perfect for me, particularly, since I know that I have a history of not testing well. I feel like I am no dummy any more! I could be the poster child for why a person needs to take a preparation course! Just before the test started a young man started a conversation with me and actually said, "so what's this test all about anyway?" I almost choked! I'd love to know how he did. Just one more thing, do you know what the highest score is that a person can get on the essays? I am dying to know, I got 300 on each one. If you know the answer can you let me know? Thanks so much! I passed both the LAST and the ATSW. I am a certified teacher who took the NTE's 11 years ago and passed. I began teaching again this year, and want to get certified in another area. Yes, I passed! What a relief. My score on the ATS-W was 271; LAST, 283. The test was not hard, but I had no idea how I did when it was over, as you predicted. All in all, I think it is a poor way for the state to access aptitude for teaching. I passed these tests, thanks to your prep. I wouldn't have known how to do that scaffolding or understand the mindset for the m/c questions. During the school vacation in Feb., I sat home for one week, instead of having fun, and did the online preparation. It was well worth it for three reasons. One, I was prepared which gave me the confidence and relaxed state of mind to take the test for 8 long hours (2 consecutive tests). Two, I knew exactly what to do and how to handle these ridiculous tests. Three, I finished the first test (the LAST) 1/2 hour early and the second test (ATS-W) with enough time to reread the essay. Again, I want to thank you both for your help and guidance during this time.
